South Bay Plaza, National City, California

Picture
A small retail building with a coin laundry business, South Bay Plaza was designed to fit in to an existing 70's shopping center while maintaining its separate architectural identity. The exterior materials, stucco and wood siding, are similar to the center, but the forms are less traditional, and the wood-sided, taller elements are designed to screen the mecahnical equipment.

Dexter Park Apartments, Brookline, Massachusetts

Picture
Over a 10 year period the building was transformed, one project at a time. From the lobby and leasing office renovations to the community room and theatre, the amenities of the building were improved (or added) to increase the value of the project and its desirability to the rental market near Boston Univerity.

"John worked with us at Dexter Park for a number of years on our property-wide upgrade program that involved everything: knockout exterior entrance enhancements, a new gorgeous lobby design, sectacular leasing and management offices, a community room, business center, theatre and a child's play center that were all so popular that they received raves from our visitors and residents alike. John's approach to design work is creative, careful, meticulous and complete. Most importantly of all, John listens intently to the client's needs and takes budgets and schedules seriously - making the entire design and building proess a win-win for all involved." - Andrew Burns, Principal, The Burns Companies, Owner's Rep for Construction, http://www.theburnscompanies.com

Niagara and Bacon, Ocean Beach, California

Picture
The corner of the site in this beach community near the Ocean Beach pier was left as an open space for the community and as an access to the parking on the inside of the site. The lower floors are retail spaces and the walk-up office spaces have access to the balcony above the circular corner space. Niagara and Bacon was an integral part of the revitalization of this part of San Diego.
